VANCE: – Inscription from tomb at Abingdon, Va.: Margaret Laughland Vance was born in Chester Co.. Penn.. in March, 1750. Moved to Holstien with her father in the fall of 1771. and was married to Samuel Vance, the 8th of January, 1778, by whom she had 12 children. Died the 6th of November, 1814. Here Mrs. Vance reposes, who sustained so well, each part in life, by word and deed. And only by her death occasioned woe. As wife, Mother and friend, Words are too weak her conduct to commend. Stop passenger, as you go by, As you are now, so once was  As I am now you soon will be Therefore think on Eternity.
